The President of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee, Vessela Lecheva, attended the award ceremony for the national women’s volleyball team under 19, which won gold medals at the World Championships in Osijek, Croatia.
The players, coached by Atanas Petrov, received the President’s Honorary Plaque at a ceremony at 2 Dondukov Street. The award was presented by Head of State Rumen Radev and is given for outstanding contributions to the development of Bulgarian sport. Radev also welcomed the volleyball players a year ago when they became European champions.
“A well-deserved award. Girls, you are our pride,” Vessela Letcheva wrote after the ceremony.

Yesterday, the volleyball players were greeted with applause in the National Assembly. Fans welcomed them immediately after their return from the World Championship in the capital’s Hristo Botev Hall.
