Vessela Letcheva, elected on March 19, 2025 as the President of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC), issued a message to the media to announce that the communication between her and Stefka Kostadinova is “blocked again”.
“Now nearly two months later, despite Ms. Kostadinova’s declared willingness to hand over the reigns to Ms. Lecheva, not a single step has been taken in that direction. Moreover, communication is again blocked by Ms Kostadinova’s team,” Vessela Letcheva’s statement begins.
“The only point of this agreement is to make a democratic transition to hand over the government to the new leadership. We therefore propose the following additions:
- To implement the decisions taken by the General Assembly on 19 March 2025, as required by the Statute of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC), the Olympic Charter and the laws of the Republic of Bulgaria. These decisions were taken in the presence of 83 out of 86 members of the BOC, with a clear election result, in full transparency and with strong public and media interest;
- To implement the decisions taken by the Executive Bureau of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee held on 3 April 2025.
- Until the new leadership of the BOC is registered, and until a final court decision is made, Ms. Vessela Letcheva and Ms. Stefka Kostadinova should sign together all documents for third parties. Only in this way transparency and sustainability in the management of the organization can be guaranteed;
- The elected BOC Chairperson Vessela Letcheva and her team to be granted access to the building of the organization at ul. “Angel Kanchev” № 4. To be guaranteed conditions for operational implementation of the decisions of the new Executive Bureau, as well as access to all official communication channels.
Since her election, the President of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee Ms. Vessela Letcheva and the Executive Bureau insist on maintaining good relations, teamwork and consistency, demonstrate respect for other institutions and the laws of the Republic of Bulgaria. At the same time they insist on the implementation of the decisions of the General Assembly, which is the supreme body of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee (Article 26, paragraph 1 of the BOC Statute), and its decisions come into force immediately (Article 39, paragraph 4 of the BOC Statute),” Vessela Letcheva’s statement ends.
