The representatives of the European Shooting Confederation highly appreciated the Arena Burgas, with which Bulgaria bid to host the European Shooting Championships in 2026.
Anna Rescikova, Laszlo Sinka and Robert Ferenczak inspected the hall and then had a meeting with the Mayor Dimitar Nikolov. The European envoys asked a number of questions about the facility’s capabilities, accommodation and transport.

“We are impressed with the modern facility your city has,” they told Mayor Nikolov. “Vessela Letcheva is a legend of our sport and we are here not as inspectors but as partners who can help Bulgaria organise great competitions.”
Mayor Dimitar Nikolov guaranteed that Burgas will be an excellent host if it receives this trust.
“Our city is constantly developing. We host a number of sports and cultural events and I am sure we will be up to this challenge,” Nikolov said.

European Confederation’s envoys also met Youth and Sports Minister Georgi Glushkov.
“The Ministry of Youth and Sports has a special programme for hosting major championships, which is a guarantee that the state stands behind federations that want to be on the world stage,” Minister Glushkov said.
We have shown that Bulgaria and Burgas have all the conditions to host a major championship. We went into the smallest details about the preparation of the hall, the accommodation, the logistics, the marketing. If we get the hosting, we will do our best to make it happen in the best way and bring benefit to the country, the city and the sport”, said Vessela Letcheva, President of the Bulgarian Shooting Union.
The decision on the hosting will be made at the end of May by the board of the federation. Bulgaria has not hosted a major championship in this sport for more than 30 years. Letcheva hopes that the development efforts will be noticed and that Bulgaria’s bid will be the best.
