The complaints against the decisions of the General Assembly are a precedent in the 100-year history of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee. These actions will affect the reputation of our NOC. This is what Vessela Letcheva, who was elected president of the BOC on March 19, said in an interview for “This Morning” on bTV.
For the first time she also commented on the latest events related to the Bulgarian Olympic Committee.
“Absolute precedent and farce is the contestation of the decisions of the General Assembly. Such a thing has never happened before, which casts a dark stain on the entire golden history of Bulgarian sport, on medallists, champions, federations. Such actions cannot be the fruit of emotion,” Letcheva said.
Vesela Lecheva again told how the meeting went. At it, Stefka Kostadinova accepted the result with the words, “People’s voice, God’s voice”. Hours later Kostadinova herself called the police, sealed the BOC building, and then individual members filed complaints to stop the entry. The complaints do not challenge the outcome of the election, but concern the organization of the General Assembly. According to Lecheva, this is an attempt to chicanery the process and sets the stage for a long court battle and timelessness for the Olympic movement.
“The appeals are copy-paste. They concern technical and organisational issues. They are in effect complaints lodged by the organisers of the assembly against their own actions. Belcho Goranov has been secretary general for 20 years. And now he is filing a complaint against himself”, states Vesela Lecheva.
