    Vessela Letcheva and five other great Bulgarian champions with the President’s Badge of Honour

    Head of State Rumen Radev awarded Vessela Lecheva, Nonka Matova, Tanya Bogomilova, Armen Nazaryan, Albena Denkova and Ivet Lalova with the President’s Badge of Honour. The awards are for outstanding merits in the development of Bulgarian sport, the Olympic Movement and the building of young talents and on the occasion of the round anniversaries.

    For decades you have been spreading the glory of the Motherland all over the world and proving that there is no limit to human capabilities, Rumen Radev said in his speech. For decades, your successes are an example of hard work, will, discipline and unstoppable drive to win. With your successes, you have become a symbol of indomitable Bulgarian spirit and dedication to Bulgaria. Today’s ceremony is an expression of our society’s deep appreciation for your brilliant victories and dedication. I am convinced that your championship path remains a valuable lesson in patriotism and an example for all young Bulgarians striving for success, the President said.

    The Head of State expressed his gratitude to the families and relatives of the honorees. Special thanks also to your coaches, associates, to the contemporary figures of Bulgarian sport, to all those for whom the education of the young generation in the spirit of patriotism, love of sport, will and dedication on the way to the top is a true cause, Rumen Radev further said.

    Tanya Bogomilova thanked on behalf of the awardees. It is a privilege for us and I want to assure you that we athletes will always carry Bulgaria in our hearts, we will raise the tricolour so that Bulgaria can be happy, Bogomilova said.

    I receive this award with a great sense of pride for all those years, the enormous hardships, difficulties and the tears in your eyes when you succeed, when you climb to the highest step, when you listen to the Bulgarian anthem, Vessela Letcheva told journalists.
