Leading sports managers, professors, Olympic champions, coaches, journalists will participate in the round table “Women and Sport – Challenges and Achievements before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games”. This was the reason for the visit of Vessela Letcheva in the studio of Sportal, a leading site for sports content.

The event is organized by the National Sports Academy “Vasil Levski” and Vessela Letcheva – member of the Committee on Public Affairs and Corporate Communications at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and President of the Bulgarian Shooting Union.

“The IOC is making serious efforts for women’s equality in sport, not only as competitors and coaches, but also as managers. The Olympic Games in Paris 2024 will be attended for the first time by an equal number of participants – men and women. Today we have parity for the 2024 Paris Games. However, research shows that only 20% of women occupy leading positions in sports management, ” Vessela Letcheva said.

“And I’ve often wondered, what prevents more women from being elected as chairmen of sports organizations? It is very difficult over the years to pave the way – women and men to be equal in sports,” she added.
“This conference will be attended by leading leaders in sports. Iliana Raeva, Ivet Goranova, Velichka Hristeva. All names we have something to hear from. I hope that after this conference we will draw conclusions and come up with solutions,” she said, adding that in Bulgaria only 4 women manage federations in Olympic sports.
