The conversation took place in Skopje, a month before the start of the European Youth Olympic Festival, which is hosted by the Macedonian capital. Dimevski is also the head of the Organising Committee and the two sides commented on the upcoming event.

Dimevski welcomed the Bulgarian delegation at the office of the Olympic Committee of the Republic of North Macedonia. The hosts assured that the preparations for the Olympic festival are going according to plan and the Bulgarian athletes and coaches will be accommodated in the best conditions.

Skopje is expecting representatives of 49 national Olympic committees. More than 4,000 of Europe’s most talented young athletes aged 14 to 18 will take part in 15 sports from July 20 to 26. For the young athletes we will see on the podium at world and European championships or Olympic Games in years to come, this is a competition with huge hope and expectations. For the first time, they will experience the emotion of being in the same place with many young people who compete in different sports, they will feel the spirit of Olympism, they will make new friendships. I am glad that the European Olympic Youth Festival will be so close to Bulgaria,” said Vessela Letcheva.

Dimevski said that North Macedonia also relies on the expertise of Bulgarians who have experience in organizing international competitions and are now helping Skopje. As a former president of the North Macedonian Basketball Federation, he also has many friendships and excellent professional relations with Bulgarian coaches, specialists and managers.

The two Olympic Committees will continue their good cooperation for the development of sport in the region. Lecheva and Dimevski also agreed on joint initiatives, which they will discuss after the European Youth Olympic Festival.
