The president of the Bulgarian Shooting Union Vessela Letcheva showed to Sportal.bg the renovation of the shooting range in the Geo Milev. The main reconstruction of the outdated facility was recently completed and today the base is unrecognizable. The shooting range has been thoroughly renovated and will be able to host international competitions of the highest rank of pneumatic and small arms.
“I am very happy that Bulgarian shooting will now have a modern shooting complex. This is the place where our best athletes train. We have tried to build conditions for Bulgarian shooters that are as close as possible to those conditions that our competitors from the best developed countries in shooting sports – Germany, USA, China, India and all other countries have. Just a year and a half ago it was very difficult to imagine that anyone would want to come here and train. I’m glad we now have 30 electronic targets. I hope that in the coming years we will have some for the small arms range as well,” said Letcheva, adding that the official opening of the base is still to come.
The President of the Bulgarian Shooting Union Vessela Letcheva will present the Bulgarian candidacy for the European Shooting Championships 2026 after the Easter holidays. Then a delegation of the European Federation will arrive, which will have a meeting with the Minister of Youth and Sports Georgi Glushkov, and then will travel to Burgas to see the possibilities of the “Arena Burgas”, the infrastructure and hotel facilities.
“I hope that our guests will be satisfied with what they have seen and that after many years we will be able to host a major sports forum in shooting sports,” said Vessela Letcheva.
