The President of the Bulgarian Shooting Union Vessela Letcheva and presidents of federations from the region united around the idea to resume the Balkan Shooting Championships.
The meeting took place in Novi Sad and was attended by members of the European Shooting Confederation led by President Alexander Ratner.
The heads of sport shooting of Serbia, the Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Moldova and Bulgaria identified concrete tasks for action and signed a protocol for cooperation. They will be joined by Greece and Turkey.
“My proposal was accepted that by the end of the year all Balkan countries should send their vision on the format of the championship in terms of age of competitors, number of participants, time of the event, definition of hosts, budget and all other important issues concerning the professional organization of a major competition,” said Vessela Letcheva.
According to Letcheva, the restart of these tournaments will enable the athletes from the Balkans to have an even more competitive sports calendar, as well as the federations to develop their organizational capabilities.
