Vessela Letcheva, President of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee and the Bulgarian Shooting Federation, was a guest on the penultimate day of the European Baseball Championship for children under 12 (U12 Baseball European Championship B Pool 2026). The championship is being held from July 6 to 11, 2026, at the “Oktomvri” Baseball and Softball Complex in Student City.
Letcheva admitted that this was the first time she had watched a baseball game live. She praised the organizers for their efforts not only to host important international events in our country but also to develop a sport that until recently was not popular here.
“There’s nothing better than seeing the stadium full and watching you showcase your talent and abilities,” said Letcheva.
The event was attended by Yuri Alkalay, vice president of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC); Yavor Andreev, president of the Bulgarian Baseball and Softball Federation; and Henk van der Linde, chief technical delegate of the WBSC. On the first day of the championship, BOC Secretary General Danail Dimov was also among the officials.
The competition brought together baseball players from Bulgaria, Austria, Belarus, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, and Ukraine. The championship is one of the most significant international baseball events organized in Bulgaria in recent years.
