The President of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee, Vessela Letcheva, received congratulatory messages and cards from the International Olympic Committee, the European Olympic Committees, the Association of National Olympic Committees, the hosts of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, as well as dozens of Olympic committees on the occasion of the Christmas and New Year holidays.
“As the end of 2025 approaches, I would like to wish you happy holidays on behalf of everyone at the International Olympic Committee. I am extremely grateful for the warm welcome I received after my election as president and look forward to working closely with you and all stakeholders in the Olympic Movement in 2026,” said IOC President Kerstin Coventry in a special address.
“Now, attention turns to the Winter Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina in February 2026. The world will once again gather in Europe, 18 months after Paris brought the Olympic Games back to our continent in such a spectacular way, and I am fully confident that our National Olympic Committees and athletes will demonstrate their excellence. Europe remains at the heart of the Olympic movement, and 2026 will provide our athletes with further opportunities to shine on the world stage, including at the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar.
Your commitment and passion for European sport are the driving force behind everything we achieve together,” wrote Spiros Capralos, President of the European Olympic Committees.
The hosts of Milano-Cortina 2026 are in the advanced stages of preparation for the Games. After a short Christmas break, they are facing a final sprint, as the first athletes are expected to arrive in the Olympic villages at the end of January. They are also offering a last chance to purchase tickets – the perfect gift for the holidays – on the official ZOE website.
