Vessela Letcheva is running for President of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC).
The general election meeting of the headquarters is scheduled for 19 March in Sofia, BTA reports.
Letcheva, who is a two-time Olympic silver medallist and five-time world shooting champion, has been nominated by the Bulgarian Shooting Union. In the autumn of 2023, she was elected to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Commission for Public Affairs and Corporate Communications.
The deadline for nominations was yesterday, or 20 days before the General Assembly.
The current BOC president, Stefka Kostadinova, is the other candidate. She will seek a sixth term. Olympic high jump champion from Atlanta 1996 and seven-time world outdoor and indoor champion Kostadinova has headed the organisation since November 11, 2005.
